An inductive loop detector is an electromagnetic communication or traditional traffic detection system which mostly uses buried coils and moving magnet to induce an electric current. And it is currently the largest amount of traffic detection device in the world.

The embedded toroidal coil type vehicle detector is mainly composed of a regulated power supply, an oscillating coil, a logic circuit, a microprocessor, an interface and a driving circuit, a signal output circuit, an induction coil and so on.

A vehicle detector is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. A group of (2) ring-shaped induction coils with a certain working current are buried in the roadbed section of the same lane. When the vehicle passes or stops in the annular buried coil, the vehicle itself cuts the magnetic flux line, causing the wire loop inductance. The amount of change, the detector can detect the passing state of the vehicle by detecting the change of the inductance, and transmit the state signal to the vehicle detector, which collects and calculates the flow rate, speed, time occupancy and length of the vehicle, and so on. Traffic parameters are uploaded to the central control system to meet the needs of the traffic control system.
